An excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service for the Phoenix area announced the presence of unusual high temperatures during this week.
Thursday’s temperatures soared past 110 degrees by early Thursday, some companies experienced power outages.
Meteorologist Sean Benedict said a high temperature of 110 degrees is also forecast for Friday, before dipping back below 110 Saturday and Sunday.
While temperatures are anticipated to drop slightly over the weekend, there is still no rain in sight for the Phoenix-area.
Benedict makes some recommendations:
- Drink plenty of water even before you’re thirsty, try to limit the amount of time you spend outside and, if you are outside, take breaks, get some shade and air-conditioning.
- Be sure to check on those susceptible to heat, as well, to make sure they’re doing OK.
Prevention is a fundamental step to avoid damage caused by high temperatures. Keep you informed with SkyAlert and follow the recommendations.
